Biography:
Armando
Bayraktari was born of Turkish parents in 1972 in Skopye,
the capital of Macedonia. His father, Mehdi Bayraktari
was a theatre actor impassioned by Shakespeare, Hungarian
gypsy music and fishing. Armando grew in a bohemian milieu
animated by theatrical cris des scandal that his father
produced and directed, often assuming the main role. Bayraktari
attended 2nd August School of Art, Skopye for three years
receiving a classical, academic education which included
the study of icon painting (under Angele Nedelkovski).
Alexandar Ristevski and Pero Georgievski -Pljum taught
Bayraktari drawing, academic drawing from casts and the
live model and M.Gazanfer decorative arts - Chinese to
Byzantine design - mural painting, calligraphy and history
of art. For Bayraktari the most influential teacher was
the Macedonian artist Vasko Tashkovski, a quasi-surrealist
whose complex paintings and large scale pencil drawings
made an indelible impression on the student. For the young
Bayraktari art had to offer answers, not merely ask questions
and Tashkovski seemed to have some answers, which attracted
the student to his mentor's untypical surrealistic style.
