Highland is the Director of Culture Animal.
He is the originator of Hyper-Literary Fiction,
Microlinear Storytelling, Next-Gen Nanopoetics,
Genre-Splicing, Linguistics Engineering, Mediated
Narrative Repatterning, Exhibition Literature,
and Metapoetics Theatre.
He is the founder
of the Worldwide Literati Mobilization Network,
the International Belles Lettres Federation
and the Superheroes of Humanities. Highland's
literary work has appeared in numerous print
and online publications (over 40 publications
in 2003). His work has been translated into
six languages. His work has also been acquired
by the contemporary literature archive collections
of American Universities and is required
reading on the syllabi of professors teaching
contemporary literature and new media communications.
Highland has produced
over 150,000 literary works ranging in
length between 500-1,000 pages. Each literay
work is a one-of-a-kind piece, meaning
that only the original works are sold,
rather than being reproduced. August Highland
calls this publishing model "Massive Production".
The works are presented
unbound in custom-designed wooden boxes
that are available in three wood types.
Purchasers of Highland's work are also
able to select from three font faces and
three paper grades. Prices for the literary
work by August Highland are $350-$500.
Highland also creates
monumental-scale visual poetic works, some
as large as 122"x122".
These works are featured in virtual museums
in New York and Italy. Prices for these
works are $1,500-$5,000. Highland is
also Publisher of the Muse Apprentice Guild,
or the MAG, the Internet's largest International
Literary Quarterly with over 40 co-editors
worldwide. The first anniversary issue
of the MAG featured over 700 writers
and over 2,000 literary works.
