Education:
I am an autodidact as far as film goes. I have been shooting video for about eight or nine years. At first, film was merely a way to escape teenage boredom for myself and a few friends. In the past two years, I have become increasingly serious about filmmaking. I am currently in the final stages of the production of a short film, which I also wrote.

Activity :

Whaley began making "films" (on VHS-C) in 1995 at age 18, when he and his drunk friends (like Damien Crisp) decided to produce a 30-minute piece about a group of drunk friends (the resemblance to reality is no accident) who carry out bizzare LSD-tainted conversations and secret romantic rendez-vous (that's plural, folks) while waiting for a Chinese-food delivery boy to arrive. Since Whaley and his friends were in an apartment on Oak Street at the time, the group decided to call themselves the Oak Street Players. The OSP's would go on to produce similar comedic improvisational "films" such as Stuie, Cuba Run, UFO Night, Biscuit: the True Story of Heinrich Hollreiser, Neighbors, and Roddy.

"I am a self-funded filmmaker working primarily with digital video. From time to time, I act in my own films, as well as in those of other local filmmakers. I also design and build websites in my spare time for extra money, part of which goes toward funding my film projects. I am currently involved in an organization called Free Film Club, which screens films that would otherwise not be screened in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area".

Performance :

In 2002, Whaley began making films on his own. Since then, he has made five films: Dirty Urges, Old Faithful, The 6th Step, Short Change, and Type. His next film, Pieces, is currently in pre-production.
