Activity:
Charkh-o-falak is my
documentary on Tajik music and dance and
a gerat Tajik singer Dawlatmand Kholov
(Sep 2003).
I have published several
pictures from Uzbekistan (mainly Samarkand
and Bukhara)
and Tajikistan on the web. I am running
Tajikistan page in BBCPersian.com + I
have published a book in Persian on pre-Islamic
Iranian literature: ADAB-e PAHLAVANI
(Tehran,
2000)
My main works for the
near future would be ducumentary films
on Central Asia especially Tajikistan and
Uzbekistan. I think of myself as a campaigner
for introducing the cultural treasures
of people in Central Asia to the world.
Works:
Year: 2003
Running Time: 90 minutes
Country: Tajikistan
Cast: Dawlatmand Kholov and Whirling Tajik
Dancers
Director: Mehdi Jami
Description: Tajikistan is among the poorest
countries of the world, yet it contains
some of the richest exotic traditions in
music and dance. Due to its mountainous
location and its geographical isolation
in the world, little attention has been
paid to this nation and the potentials
it can offer to the global community. This
film may serve as a humble step to bring
into light the long ignored people of the
mountains in Central Asia, who have much
to present to the world of their folk life
and culture.
